Defense Against The Dark Arts – Choosing Your Teachers

Within the Harry Potter novels, we are introduced to a wide variety of teachers and instructors at Hogwarts School. And there are things about each of them that I love so much – (or at least I might love to hate them).

Some teachers we see throughout the series as a constant guiding and positive Force – like Professors McGonnigal, Flitwick and Sprout) – in charge of Transfiguration, Charms and Herbology). Snape (and later Slughorn) offer us Potions. Throughout the movies, there are not many others (Trelawney for Divination and Hagrid for Care of Magical Creatures). Nut the books offer us many more interesting and unique Characters.

But it is Defense Against the Dark Arts that give us the greatest variety of instruction. As you find, the job is cursed. And no instructor stays for more than a year. And for DADA at Hogwarts, We see the Good, the bad and the Evil.

For Good, we had Professors Lupin and Mad Eye Moody. Both tried and succeeded to teach the fundamentals of their subject (despite the fact that Mad Eye was an Evil imposter. And then, of course, there was harry taking over in The Order of the Phoenix (who Fred and George agreed had been their best DADA teacher)

For Bad, There was Snape, Quirrell, and Gilderoy Lockhart. Lockhart was just a self absorbed moron who knew and taught nothing. Quirrell, of course was Evil and possessed by Voldemort. But as a teacher was a bumbling fool – probably on purpose to cover his evilness. Snape I put as bad, because, as I will discuss another time, was just a bad teacher. Gifted and powerful wizard. But lousy teacher.

And then there were the Evil. I considered putting Snape here, but on the contrary, he seemed to teach the right things without holding back. But he was so full of his hatred for Harry that it clouded his ability to actually teach the subject. For true Evil, you had The Carrows. They actually taught how to perform the Dark Arts and perform curses on each other. And of Course, Professor Dolores Umbridge.

Unbridge is one of those characters who I will never forget. EVER! Evil. Nightmare evil. the kind like Pennywise the clown that I still have nightmares about. That is Umbridge.  Below its the scene for which she exposes her evil as a teacher. Because there is no subtlety to her evil. It’s right there. And in this

The Government (the ministry) is in Control – and you will do what you are told.

Dissent will not be tolerated.

In this speech, the book and the movie, while not exactly the same, were both on point. And from the movie, the line:

“It is the view of the ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations, which after all is what school is all about.”

This line always stuck with me after hearing it (I know that I saw this particular movie before reading the book).

This movie came out in 2007 – long before they implemented Common Core in US Education system. But the dumbing down of curriculum had begun long before. Soft sciences have become the norm over hard science. Much of the curriculum I see my kids learning now feels like the readers digest version of what I learned back in the 70’s and 80’s. And even back then,  I was always sure the writers left a hell of a lot out.

The Harry Potter series does a great job at making an example of this. And with the subject of The Dark Arts, this is readily apparent.

  • After Voldemort, The Curriculum changed from Teaching “Dark Arts” to a Defense against the Dark Arts.
  • Harry began his training in curses in order to help him with The Triwizard Tournament – but never taught directly by teachers.
  • When Umbridge would not teach even Defensive spells, Harry had to make an illegal class to teach those interested.
  • The highest levels of Government did their best to interfere with the actual education of the students.

Education in the Era of COVID

I am not personally a fan of Homeschooling. I am not a teacher – nor did I ever have aspirations to do so. While I hate the idea that my kids are being force fed the Common Core Curricula in public schools, I pay my taxes and they have a right to be there.

Now they are learning at home. And we must sit with the younger kids to make sure they understand what they are doing and supervise their progress. We are charged with understanding all of the ins and outs of each grade’s electronic devices.  We have  live action learning – where the kids are on Webex and Zoom meetings with the class. And then there is “Asynchronous learning.”

Here is where we get to the Advice in the age of Darkness

In our 2020 version of Defense Against the Dark Arts, we must have some advice about how to fight the misinformation and miseducation of our children.

For me, classes being at home make this easier. We get to see first hand what they are trying to do. And have the opportunity to undue that which is bad and reeducate where we can shed light on darkness.

So

  1. There are Good Teachers out there – We need to get to know who is teaching our children. Having this much close contact helps to identify what is going well. We need to pay attention to them.
  2. There are also some pretty bad ones – Paying attention is important here too. Are they lazy? Are they simply drones teaching straight out of a book. Are they evil? All relevant questions.
  3. “Never Trust Anything that can think for itself if you can;t see where it keeps its brain.” – This is n admonishment from Arthur Weasley to Ginny after he hears that she had been writing in Riddle’s Diary in The Chamber of Secrets. This speaks directly to my Asynchronous Learning problem. The teachers have been tasked with sending the kids to online courses. These courses are a combination of videos with probing questions afterwards. This is the Anything Without a Brain that we have to watch for. It is history and science lessons, all prepared carefully to offer a very specific frame of reference about its subjects. Consider it like Wikipedia. Everyone says to not trust it, as anyone can change what is there. All you really have to do is read any political issue or person and you will see the artwork of propaganda in motion. If you want to have some fun, look up The Clinton Foundation or Global Warming on Wikipedia.

Mercury the Messenger goes into a trine with Pluto the Transformer today, and the Sabian symbols involved tell us to be fearless. Messages and information flow today to further the deconstruction of the archontic world and the construction of the free world.

Mercury is at 23 Virgo, “a lion-tamer rushes fearlessly into the circus arena.”  Pluto is at 23 Capricorn, “a soldier receiving two awards for bravery in combat.”

Being fearless and being brave are the same thing.  -Laura Walker

Last year around this time, I wrote an installment of Defense Against the Dark Arts about Fear. What are its Roots? What are some Examples? What can you do to dispell that fear.

And dispelling that fear is about creating fearlessness.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” -Frank Herbert

If you have a few minutes, read it here – then come back and read some more:

DADA101 – Fear

Here is the “Some More” Part

The causes of fear are innumerable, because fear is in the mind. Spiders, for instance are natural. They live everywhere. You can try to keep them out of your living space. You can clean. You can spray chemicals.  For the most part, they will avoid us – content to eat flies and other bugs that are ensnared in their webs.

But then there are the other times – like when I was bit 4 years ago by a spider while I was sleeping. I was in a bed, in New Jersey, in a nice house. Whatever possessed it is unknown.

Am I more afraid of them now? I would say no. But it may be because they are not snakes. No thanks to them!

Fear at the Heart of Things

Looking at 2020, I would suggest that fear is at the heart of pretty much everything going on.

Fear of the Coronavirus

Fear of Vaccines

Fear of Riots

Fear of a race war

Fear of the election, lockdowns, police, other people

And standing in front of us all are the media and entertainment industry fanning the flames.

And ask yourself what the source of all this fear may be? Is it a single source? Mutiple? Working together? Against each other?

The propaganda war going on right now is serious. Everyone has known it was there. But often played blind to it.

Thanks to Trump during the last election, and heavy use of the words FAKE NEWS, even the most somnambulent of fools have begun to admit that there is something wrong. That there is a serious concerted effort to drive some very specific messages through the ether and into the hearts and minds of the population at large.

I believe at the time, Trump was simply fighting a battle. For him this could have been the election. Or it could have just been he woke up in the morning and got sick of being lied about.

Once he had them labeled – and all of their heads exploded like an infected pimple – the crazy cadre of left wing “fact checkers” were front and center. The left has often tried to appropriate the term Fake News – confusing the label to their advantage.

But for the Lamestream media, the emperor’s clothes were off. We had forgotten the term “yellow journalism” for all its heyday in year’s past. But now its back. probably never left. But no longer can we look at a piece of news and not ask ourselves who is saying it and what are they trying to accomplish by saying it.

Now Where Was I . . . Oh That’s Right, “Fear”

It is fear they are spreading. Enlightenment is the cure. The Alignment of the day – Mercury – Pluto offers us the symbols of fearlessness and bravery.

Now more than ever, we must ask ourselves. What? Why? How? Who? Where? When?

There is more to come. Enlightenment is on the way. We have the Full Moon tomorrow (Or in about 4 hours by my watch since I am writing this a little later into the evening than I had planned. And the Full expression of the Sabian Symbol for the month hits: “Daybreak — the luminescence of dawn in the eastern sky”.

It’s time to see some Daybreak!

Happy Monday! The ability to triumph begins with you always.

First let me apologize for the 10 day hiatus. We owe this to the beginning of online school. We were given the option of going Hybrid, or Virtual. Hybrid meant 2 days in class and 3 days at home. Virtual, is all days at home.(sorry for restating the obvious).

But anyways, we have 5 kids, 3 different schools and different devices per grade. Each kid has a different schedule. Each kid needs their own workspace, where they can be online and talking with teachers and students. The youngest 3 need A LOT of oversight and help.

So needless to say, we are trying to find a groove through all of it.

We started 4 of the 5 children as virtual. The 5th (and oldest still at home – a High School Junior) wanted to start out in school in order to meet her teachers.

BUT BUT BUT

It is our opinion that school will be all virtual by the end of September. This is backed up by pretty much common logic (call that illogic) in the State of Pennsylvania. Everything is decided county by county. The governor makes recommendations (call them edicts) for the counties to follow. And they way it look, a kid gets sick, and the rest of the class will go to 14 day quarantine. Teacher friends of ours have told us that they have been put on notice that their administrations believe they will be 100% virtual.

All seems to be full circle. Time will tell

SO

Class is in Session!

First, I will post the last 2 weeks of daily charts in another post later on today. It will be there as a reference guide for anyone who wants to see them.

Second, while I have been too busy to post, I have not been too busy to think. And I have been mentally working on 3-4 Defense Against the Dark Arts pieces.

Third – Wake Up Everyone! Life in the big city has become one big WOKE mess. And the narrative is being blasted from every electronic device connected to electricity. The Cabal is in its glory. Is it chaos that they are spreading? Or is it much better planned?

SO FOR TODAY

The word of the day is COMORBIDITY.

Over the weekend, the CDC released some figures about the deaths that have been attributed to COVID-19. As stated by someone else:

“This week the CDC quietly updated the Covid number to admit that only 6% of all the 153,504 deaths recorded actually died from Covid.

9,210 deaths.

The other 94% had 2 to 3 other serious illnesses and the overwhelming majority were of very advanced age; 90% in nursing homes.”

Now of course, the CDC is behind in their numbers by a month or so (Lamestream media claims about 180,000 deaths right now). The Chart I read was from 8/19/2020. Did 20,000 people die in the last 2 weeks? Hmmm.

Ignore that for a minute.

This chart was hidden among a data dump from the CDC. And interested people discovered it and have broken the internet with it. Of course we are hearing crickets from the lamestream news. But we expect that.

Here is where the COMORBIDITY comes in. That 94% of the people had 2-3 other serious issues.

Diabetes

Overweight

Heart Condition

Old Age

High Blood Pressure

Cancer

Car accident?

Gunshot wound from a Protest?

TDS?

The fact of the matter is that it could be anything. Or it could be nothing at all.

CORONAVIRUS is significantly more Deadly to people who are medically fragile.

But consider the question of WHY the arguably most advance scientific organization on the planet is burying this kind of information deep in a chart. WHY is this not top of their agenda? WHY have we not heard it every day for the past 6 months?

We must start asking these kinds of questions OUT LOUD, PUBLICLY, BY SCIENTISTS. It makes the hypocrisy of this Plandemic laughable.

Speaking of the Plandemic, if you have not watched the latest installment of Plandemic, I might ask what rock you have been hiding beneath. Even though Google, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and just about every other Big Tech owned site has tried to ban it, it is still easy to find. It is here:

www.plandemicseries.com

And if you are interested, hear what Ron Paul (who is a Doctor BTW) has to say about the CDC report:

It’s one of those funny days where the Sabian Symbols at 7:00 AM do not change from the precious day. At 7:00 AM on the 18th, The Sun was at 26 Degrees 00 Minutes. This morning at 7:00 AM, it was at 26 degrees, 58 Minutes. Always round up and you get the same thing. Add that to the New Moon, where the Sun was at 26 Degrees 30 Minutes, and we had a lot happening at the “Daybreak” symbol. And so it continues.

DADA – Who do you listen to?

BTW: If you were not following when I started this series last year, here are some of the beginning posts to get  you up to speed:

Defense Lessons in Fighting Mind Control

One of my past mentors used to constantly ask the question:

“Who do you listen to?”

Who do you listen to? This question is different than “Who do you learn from?” Most people think they are the same. What does “listen” mean? What does “learn from” mean. Think about these things. Ponder this: You can learn the most from your enemies.

Think about those who hate you, those who YOU hate, those who make you feel bad, those who “hurt” you, those who if they would only change your life would be better. These people are your greatest teachers.

You should love these people. These people, more than any other, can bring you to a “place” where all your dreams can come true. Remember, YOU attracted them into your life. They are an answer to what you have been asking for.

YOU called them forth into your life. This is why “love your enemies, love those who hate you” is a common high spiritual teaching.

This is an important question to ask yourself as it ultimately defines the kind of information that you are consuming and where your mind will focus.

What you Consume can have an impact on your Well Being

How much do you read? For the purpose of this article, I am not talking about Periodicals, The Internet, Television, Radio or any of that. I am talking about books.

I both read and listen to audio books. I started audio mostly to take up the time in between when I am busy doing mindless work and am unable to read a book. This would be driving and household chores like dished and laundry.

For me, I am always reading multiple books. Some actively and some passively.

So Who do I Listen to?

I will list some of my Go to sites for entertainment and education.

Oracle Report -Laura Walker – Astrology and Lunar phases. I have been following the Oracle report since 2011 and Laura’s insight continues to be spot on.

Blogging From Paradise – Ryan Biddulph – He is a blogger whose claim to fame: “Blogging from Paradise – our community – is where you can learn to have fun blogging, to boost your blogging income, to generate more traffic and to actually enjoy the ride.” I have been following since early on in my blogging career. He understands the craft like no other.

AWAI –  American Writers and Artists Institute – They are an organization dedicated to teaching Direct Market copywriting. I have been through their course twice and continue following their blog and Newsletter – The Golden Thread – to continue honing the craft of copywriting.

PIR – Patriot Intel Report – Phoenix’s daily report is a must for “The Patriot on the Go.”

Sol Luckman – SnoozetoAwaken – Shares insightful information about medical and political fraud all over the internet.

Suspicious0bservers – Daily Spaceweather News Report.

Radio – The Patriot Channel on Sirius Satellite – Up to date news commentary. They are conservatives, and often go a little wild with their rants. But it is the go to spot to find out news that the Media is ignoring

Breitbart News and The Drudge Report– See above about The Patriot Channel

TV – Ancient Aliens, Big Brother, Lovecraft Country

I DO NOT ACTIVELY CONSUME MAINSTREAM NEWS – CBS. NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, ESPN – They are an unreliable source of information. Except for weather. And that is only if you really want dosages of Global Warming propaganda served up warm and mushy.

I DO passively watch CBS. It is my wife’s goto channel for everything. So I have to stomach the BS from the other room most of the day – like second hand smoke permeating its stench through everything. I enjoy lampooning the talking heads (that is when I am not throwing things at the TV). I use it as a baseline for what the mainstream is saying.

So What am I reading RIGHT NOW?

Harry Potter – and the Chamber of Secrets – JK Rowling – I am reading the whole series, This is day 5 and I am on the second book. This is inspiration and lots of fun.

50 Things THEY Don’t want you to Know – Jerome Hudson – Its a “ripped from the headlines” kind of book compiled by a member of the Breitbart News team. It points out major news stories that the mainstream news media have been ignoring.

The Master Game – Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval – It is subheaded “Unmasking the secret rulers of the world.”  I got this book because of my love of Graham Hancock. Unfortunately it is not available on Audible. But it puts together a lot of the behind the scenes Illuminati shadow groups playing kingmaker around the world.  It offers a fascinating account of the background political/religious forces that have been (and still are) shaping and controlling our lives and society.A little old, but still very useful information.

American Crusade: Our Fight to Stay Free – Pete Hegseth – I picked this up after hearing an interview with Pete Hegseth. One of the most concerning aspects of this election cycle is the messaging. The Democrats a large advantage here. The media is their darling. Anything they want to say is told in epic drama all throughout the news cycle. Where Trump triumphed in 2016 was his ability to steal the news cycle with whatever he wanted to put out there. After he won, the Democrats and the media swore to never let that happen again. So the question is, what message will he be able to shoot out to his 80 Million Twitter followers to capture the hearts of America? Will he be able to do it. Pete Hegseth offers a strong foundation for that “conservative” message. We will see how it works.

Homework Project – Who do you Listen to?

1) Who do you listen to? Make a list of the people that you are listening to right now. That could be authors, Friends, Celebrities, Business Associates. Try to list all that are affecting you now.

2) How have they changed you or affected your life?

3) What Books are you reading right now?

Please consider this. Write it down. Figure out where you are right now. Is it getting you where you want to go?

New Moon – August 18, 2020 @ 10:41 PM

We come to the end of the Second Cancer Lunar phase of 2020. This evening will see the New Moon phase in Leo. I am including both the Astrology Chart for this morning at 7:00 AM EST as well as the New Moon Chart at 10:41 PM this evening for comparison purposes.

The Sabian Symbol for today and for this Lunar Month at 27 Leo is “Daybreak — the luminescence of dawn in the Eastern Sky.”

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose above the mountains. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

I mentioned before that I finished The Wheel of Time book series. The quote above sums up a lot about the series, as each of the 14 books start with some version of this. So let’s start the Leo New Moon phase with it!

So for me, I am beginning a few things.

A Diet – of Sorts.

If you have been following me for long, each year I go on a cleanse diet. I’ve done it for the past about 4 years. It is not specifically for losing weight, though each time I have done it I have lost between 10 and 20 lbs.

What I have followed is a 30 Day Reset. It is an extreme diet that takes lots of work. You must cut out ALL processed food and ALL processed sugar. What I am following is “Eat Well – 12 Habits of Success”

Each day they post a video with a Success habit to follow that will lead you toward better health. I saw the opening post and decided to follow it yesterday.  Today was the second Day, so I will list them here so far:
Eat Well – Habit 1 – Log your food
Why log your food?
  • Greater awareness of how often, what and how much you eat
  • Ability to know what foods nourish you, satisfy you or weight you down
  • A basis to ask questions, experiment and get feedback on our coaching calls
  • We find people start to eat more appropriate amounts for their needs, even just through logging
Have you logged your food before?
Did you like it, love it, or hate it?
Its a pretty good idea if you ask me. i started yesterday, using the friendly downloadable log sheet (Its like coloring pages for grown ups). And I have to say, it was super effective.
Every time I went to eat something – chips, a piece of candy, soda – I stopped myself and asked if I really wanted it. If I really needed it.
Eat Well – Habit 2 – Lead with Protein
It basically says that every meal should start with 20 grams of protein. Meat, Cheese, Nuts, Legumes. Protein is filling and it sets the building blocks toward better nutrition utilization.

I will let you know how it goes.

Harry Potter – Defense Against the Dark Arts

As I mentioned the other day, i have started reading the Harry Potter Series. Monday morning I finished the Sorcerers Stone and I am now moving along through the Chamber of Secrets. I love the speed of reading YA books. Especially the first few Harry Potter Books. These were rolling far before the movies began. And while reading it, your mind’s eye still sees the characters as cartoony. But that doesn’t stop the fun.
I think that the Daybreak “luminescence” theme for the month speaks perfectly to the idea of talking about and finding ways of defending ourselves against the darkness that we see around us every day.  And the Ancient Pottery Bowl speaks of a rich and vibrant past – filled with ancient secrets. The Mystery Schools taught this information. Until they were forced underground. Or out of existence.
Stay Tuned!
