Summer Solstice 2026
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 4:24 AM
Enjoying the longest day of the year, and shortest night. And depending on who you talk to, the start of summer.

The “weathermen” call the start of Summer as June 1 – I expect because the depth of their thought about the passage of time rarely goes beyond the Gregorian Calendar.
The mainstream in the US usually count it as Memorial Day – which is usually the first official picnic get together of the summer season.
Those of us who follow the solar and lunar cycles count it be the date in the Northern Hemisphere, the sun reaches its highest and northernmost point in the sky. On this date, the Earth is tilted on its axis by roughly 23.5°, making it lean closest to the sun.
Welcome all to the first weekend of summer here in the Northern Hemisphere. Hard to imagine all those in the Southern hemisphere dealing with the time and the weather we know at Christmas time. While I like Christmas, Summer is my time. I am Summerfolk.
I want to point out that we are in the First Quarter Phase of the year (like with the Lunar Phases) which means it is time to Step Out and Take Action. Time to act on the plans you made at the beginning of the Astrological Year (April 17th if you had forgotten at the New Moon in Aries)
For the first weekend of Summer, I am going to ask us all to consider what we want to see from this summer. I am asking some thinking questions for Summer and what you will be doing. Consider the questions and answer them yourself. And then work on doing them.
I am usually always in the middle of a number of books. I would like to make it intentional to finish some of these. My list:
What Are you Reading?
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – J.K. Rowling – I just finished Prisoner of Azkaban last night. I think this is the 8th time reading Harry Potter. Always fun to read YA novels.
- The Secret History of the Universe: How Ancient Wisdom Made the Modern World – Mark Booth – This is the follow up book to his The Secret History of the World, where he exposes the Cabals and mystics controlling the world today. In this epic new history, Mark Booth offers an alternative view, showing us how the great geniuses of modern science, from Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla, and Albert Einstein to today’s architects of AI, turned instead to secret, mystical, and “higher” teachings, including Indian mysticism and Freemasonry, to make sense of the strange phenomena they were encountering. Experimenting with alternative states of consciousness, they risked isolation and even madness. (Yes, I copied most of this from the Amazon description)
- The Grand Illusion: A Synthesis of Science and Spirituality – Brendan Murphy – Looks at paranormal activity and synthesizes it with present Scientific thought.
- The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract – History of the world according to baseball and allis its evolution in the 150 odd years of its existence. I am especially interested in the deep statistics.
- The Magic of Believing: The Science of Setting Your Goal. . . and Then Reaching It – Claude M. Bristol – It was written in 1948 and reprinted in 1972 – This is the third time reading it. So far, each time I have read it something “magical” has happened. Can;t wait to see this time.
If you do not have a list, them make one. They do not have to be groundbreaking or important. But hopefully they will make you think.
Where are you going?
Do you have any trips planned? Or visiting friends or relatives? For me it is just important to get outside. This weekend I was working in my yard. Garden is coming along fine!
If you are unable to go on a trip, it is important that you try to get outside and be close to nature somehow. Walk in a park? Fishing in a lake or river? Swimming at a pool, lake, river or the ocean?
Seeing a Live Performance?
I like the energy of live music. And more so the energy of large crowds enjoying it. Also, there are large sporting events. The World Cup soccer is going on. I have no interest in the sport, but the crowds are pretty amazing. If you have a chance, check out the videos being posted from Europeans visiting the United States and our food. They are hilarious!
What are you doing to improve yourself?
I could say that the 3 items above will improve me. But this is something you should consider. During this time of the year where we step out and take action, you should be taking action on yourself. For me, I have writing projects I am working on that I will bring to fruition. Some are blog series that I want to complete. Another is a book I have been working on. Each will get my focus.
For summer, I am hoping all can get out and enjoy the world. And while you are enjoying it, you can also move forward rather than be swept along. You take charge. You take action.
