– First Quarter Moon Phase: Step out, Take action

– Best Days (from the Farmer’s Almanac) – Cut Firewood, Mow to Increase Growth, Dig Holes, Paint, Kill Plant Pests, THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO BECAUSE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING (but are good nonetheless) – Get Married, Entertain Friends, Host a Party, Travel for Pleasure,

– Aspect of the Aeon Sophia: (Wisdom): Chinnamasta, Goddess who expands the Mind

– Aspect of the Aeon Thelete: (Will/Desire): Ian, God of the East, God of Wisdom

– Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: “A Triangle with Wings”

SUN: 14 ARIES – a serpent coiling near a man and a woman

EARTH: 14 LIBRA –  in the heat of noon a man takes a siesta

Two notes: First, I was able to finally connect with Phoenix from Patriot Intel Report and recorded an interview about the upcoming energetics and Astrogardens. The interview will air this Saturday evening at 7:00 PM. Second you will see above the inclusion of a new aspect to consider for the day. It is from The Farmer’s Almanac and notes recommended things you should do on different days. These recommendations are based on the lunar calendar and compliment the energy of the day. I will be looking for more advice like this to report in the daily reports.

So, What are you doing today to Move Forward?

During the First Quarter Phase this is a fine question to ask. But not one to dwell upon, because the energy is about Action. In the Northeast, it is clear an sunny. May be time to turn some more of my garden beds. We are still waking them up.

Next week is supposed to see some frost, confirming why I have not put seeds in the ground. I am planning to plant some trays under my porch within the next week. And then lettuce in the ground by the next new moon phase. Lettuce is generally the first in the ground. It will grow well in spring, but must be covered with plastic in case of frost, which will kill young plants into the 2nd week of May.

Serpent Energy is indicated by the Sun location today. This symbol invokes a couple thoughts in me. During the Spring, Rattlesnakes come out of hibernation in the Southwest United States. And when they do, they are not in a good mood. I have first hand experience with this as we used to camp in Southern California when I was growing up. I remember being struck at by a particularly angry rattler one weekend that scared the piss out of me. Reminded me the importance of sleeping above the ground that night.

But serpent energy also speaks to awakening and rebirth. The uncoiling is a perfect meditation point for those who do so. And Spring is a time of reawakening to the world.

For this month’s dance of the big conjunction,  (Mars-Saturn and Jupiter-Pluto) Today each of these are in opposition to the moon.  Mars-Saturn Squares Uranus and Trines Venus. What does all this mean? Let’s call that homework. Look up these energetics and see what you can find.

FURTHER, compare these with your own charts. Are you particularly affected by these energies? This is where you can find out more.

Remember, the Gnostics say, “Know yourself. Know the Universe?”

– Crescent Moon Phase: perseverance, challenge, adventure

– Aspect of the Aeon Sophia: (Wisdom) Chinnamasta, Goddess who expands the Mind

– Aspect of the Aeon Thelete: (Will/Desire): Ian, God of the East, God of Wisdom

– Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: “A Triangle with Wings”

SUN: 12 ARIES – A flock of wild geese

EARTH: 12 LIBRA –  Miners are emerging from a deep coal mine

NOTES ON THE SABIAN SYMBOLS FOR THE DAY: I have a few thoughts about the Symbols of the day. Firstly, with a flock of wild geese, I think of Canadian Geese, that fly through the American Northeast on their annual migrations. It is interesting to see them feeding and resting in fields and parking lots. They are very large birds and they make a mess. But seeing the flocks migrating is nothing short of glorious.

So my first thought is that they fly in the shape of an arrow. How close is that to a triangle with wings. What may be flying through our world today?

But also consider that they are a flock. More than an individual working together. They are complimentary to the sign of the earth. The group of miners are also together, working toward a common goal. Emerging together.

Onward

So we proceed with the energies of the day thinking on a group mission. And what groups are proceeding toward where? What are they doing? What are we doing?

Yesterday I had a lot that I wanted to say. But I didn’t. Why you might ask. In a word, yesterday was my own Saturn transit day.

“Now, what is a Saturn Transit day,” you might ask. These are the 4 days throughout the year that the Sun is either Conjunct, Opposing or Square to my natal Saturn.  Per Laura Walker.

Knowing the dates when some of our natal planets are activated enables us to plan and work with the energy, instead of the energy working us.

On the days of the year that your Saturn is activated, typically one can expect: hyper criticism of self and others, feelings of failing in one’s responsibilities, potential health concerns, feeling that one does not “measure up,” issues with one’s work, heightened control issues (trying to control the uncontrollable through organizing and ordering), feeling burdened, and feeling judged. The “Critical Inner Parent” goes into overdrive and we exaggerate our “faults.” It is important to take personal responsibility on these days, but it is just as important to give oneself a break.

Through the Data feature on OracleReport.com, we offer a number of different charts and reports that you can purchase. One of these is the Saturn Transit report, which will let you know these dates.

So yesterday I was staying away from things intentionally. This year and this month, Saturn’s Energy is very strong. Paying attention to this energy and how and when it may be affecting you is part of the reason we follow astrology. In addition to Saturn, we also can get your Black Moon and Venus transits. If you are interested, you can order them here:

In addition, Mercury is FINALLY ON THE MOVE FORWARD. At 10:03 PM EST on the 29th, Mercury emerged from the retrograde shadow. No More Mercury Retrograde! At least for another 3 months or so.

Saturday March 28, 2020 – Crescent Moon Phase

Saturday, March 28, 2020

– Crescent Moon Phase: perseverance, challenge, adventure

– Aspect of the Aeon Sophia: (Wisdom) Chinnamasta, Goddess who expands the Mind

– Aspect of the Aeon Thelete: (Will/Desire): Ian, God of the East, God of Wisdom

– Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: “A Triangle with Wings”

SUN: 09 ARIES – A crystal gazer

EARTH: 09 LIBRA –  three old masters hanging in a special room in an art gallery

Crescent Moon Phase

This is the point where we take off. The New Moon phase is one of planning an intentions. Crescent is time to move. An we are faced with two opposite forces.

One is the excitement and exuberance of what we have just planned. This excitement can send us forward on the new adventure.

The Opposing force is the challenge. We question our intentions. Seeing the way forward, we may may stumble and lose our way.

March 24, 2020

The Crescent phase is where we decide if we have the metal to move forward.

Here is where understanding your personal astrology, and comparing it to the astrology of today, can help see you forward. What may be aspecting in your chart to help?

To the right I have the chart I published on March 24th – The day of the New Moon. There are two places to look at that are important.

FIRST – Imagining the chart as a clock, look at the position about 8:30. This shows the aspects directly in line with the sun at the New Moon . Of course, the Sun and the Moon are together. But dancing with them are both Chiron and The Black Moon. The energies of these together are significant to what is happening to us all month (and if you have been listening to Laura Walker) and since January. I have personally been watching them because they are a bullseye aspect to my personal chart. So I have been swimming it it pretty hard.

So what does that mean? HOMEWORK – find out. Its fun doing homework (haha) especially for all of us parents under Stay at home orders. We just received instruction from our schools about the homework the kids are required to do every day. So look it up on a search engine. Here are some phrases you may want to try:

Sun Conjunct Black Moon

Sun Conjunct Chiron

Moon Conjunct Chiron

Black Moon Conjunct Chiron (You may not find much online. Check out Laura Walker’s book Astrology of the Black Moon available free from www.oraclereport.com.

SECOND – Imagining the chart as a clock, look at the position about 11:00. You will see Saturn Conjunct Pluto and Jupiter Conjunct Mars. These are both significant aspects. And they are moreso because they happen at the Midheaven – which speaks to Life’s Path.

Homework again. Look it up!

Each of these aspects describe the energy we are under right now. I like visualizations to make sense of this. Imagine you are surfing (my favorite visualization). You are sitting on your board out in the ocean and things are happening that are completely beyond your control Waves are coming, There is a riptide, wind, sharks, sand dunes, shorebreak, the water is cold. You can go on and on.

The question is, how do you adjust to these conditions? And before that, how do you even know about them?

Starting with your own chart, you may see where you are very apt at dealing with some conditions, and others are more challenging.

Wednesday, March 25, 2020 – What is the New Moon Phase all about

New Moon – Beginnings, setting intention, initiate, set a wish or intention

Ideas, hopes, wishes, or dreams that were “seeded” during the New Moon phase

I wrote an Article about the New Moon Phase back in July

At the time of the New Moon, the Moon is located directly in between the Sun and the Earth. You might ask, :Then why do we not have an eclipse every month at the New Moon?” It has to do with the orbital plane of the Moon being different than that of the Earth to the sun. 2 times per year, they meet (at the Spring and Autumn Equinox) and can potentially offer us an eclipse.

The Moon does not generate any light itself. The bright moon is caused by the light of the Sun reflecting off its surface. So we can only see brightness on the side of the Moon that faces the sun. When the Moon is stationed in between, we see nothing but darkness.

Astrologically, it is said that the energy of the Moon is at its lowest point. It is the starting point of the lunar cycle.

Born Under the New Moon

Do you know what phase the moon was in when you were born. This is not a common piece of astrology that is looked at. In my opinion, one that is not given the importance it deserves. After discovering my own, I was able to see its influence over my life. I may talk more about that when we get to the disseminating phase (HINT HINT).

If you do not know it, it is simple to find. Go to a search engine. Search:

“Lunar Phase at Birth”

There are many sites that will give you this information. I will outline the basic lunar phase astrology for each phase in upcoming posts. But for now, we are starting

New Moon – Low Energy Phase

  • In tune with what they want
  • Try new things with Childlike wonder and innocence
  • It is a loving energy
  • Drawn to try new things and follow trends
  • They are Creative idea people
  • Aggressively go after what they want
  • Always a shiny new idea on the horizon
  • Dog like enthusiasm – like a large labrador chasing things around

But

  • Energy can bee fleeting
  • Fizzles out before its done
  • Dog like enthusiasm like ADHD – jumping to the next shiny object they see and forgetting what they were aggressively attacking moments before
  • Cloaked in a darkness around themselves – Unable to see how they are from an outside perspective.

How New Moon people can Relate to the other phases.

  • Low Energy phases are good – Including Balsamic, New and Crescent – This is when mind and heart are in alignment
  • High energy Phases are more Difficult – Gibbous, Full and Disseminating
  • Full Moon is a time to look inward and focus on personal reflection. The energy at full moon is the full expression of the energy exposed at the New Moon. It is more intense though.
  • Quarter Phases use to evaluate self.

SO . . . What Does all this mean about today?

For the New Moon Phase in Aries, 2020, we need to look at the Date of the New Moon (yesterday 3/24) and interpret the Sabian Symbols for the day.  I listed these in yesterday’s post

For the New Moon, the Sabian Symbol for the Sun is “A Triangle with Wings”.  Personally, this symbol has always bothered me. The Triangle imagery speaks of Illuminati influences. Even stronger for me was that when I first encountered the symbol, I noticed a character on a TV cartoon that my kids would watch all the time (Gravity Falls). And being the ADD type that I am, would often get pulled into the show.  Though he does not have wings, he did fly. He was an interdimensional being  who caused trouble and invoked chaos.

Well anyway, consider what this means to you.  You may just consider it and ask about what it means to you. You also might want to dig deeper. Look at your personal Natal Astrology Chart and compare it to the energetics of the New Moon yesterday. If you do not have a copy of your chart, you can get one by ordering it here:

And Something Fun

from wikipedia

Tolkien Reading Day is an annual event, launched by The Tolkien Society in 2003, that takes place on 25 March. It has the aim of encouraging the reading of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, and the use of Tolkien’s works in education and library groups. The date of 25 March was chosen in honour of the fall of Sauron, in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

New Moon in Aries – March 24, 2020

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Following the Astrological Calendar, the beginning of the year is the sign of Aries – which begins in April – right around the same time at the Spring Equinox – This  year March 19th. It can be anywhere from March 19th to the 21st, depending on when the earth actually gets to that point.

And remember the whole leap year thing. The astrological sign of Aries begins on March 21st according to most Gregorian Calendars and horoscope websites. If you are counting for accuracy though, you look to when the sun enters the sign of Aries. This year that happened around March 18th at 9:35 PM

Here is where it gets complicated. The actual beginning of the New Year is when the New Moon strikes in the sign of Aries. And that day is today March 24th, at 5:34 AM.

I am not generally a stickler for details, but the art of astrology is. Or at least the math behind it is. And I would like to spend some time this year thinking about this math as well as some details about calendars and the passage of time. How we pass our time here on Earth. And how it may differ around the world.

CALENDARS

Figuring out how dates and times work in astrology has confounded me since I began paying attention to it. And to place that date, it was in about 2011 – about the time I asked myself what the heck this whole 2012 end of the world thing was about. FYI I am still not incredibly clear on that. But it made me start paying attention.

Some of the things I looked at included the Mayan Calendar. The Kali Yuga. Western Astrology. Astronomy. And through this research, I found the Oracle Report. And the bottom of the rabbit hole truly fell out.

Anyways, the point of this post, and likely a whole lot more, is to take an intensive look at calendars, time and how we look at its passage. I am interested in how all of us pass time. All around the world.

I may tread lightly, or go deep. It will depend on how into it I get in the moment – and whether my kids interrupt my train of thought. Who says it will be my kids though. Many people I know claim that I have adult onset ADD. We will just have to see.

So for today’s lesson:

Tuesday March 24, 2020 5:34 AM

Taken from The Oracle Report, here are the astrological positions and Sabian Symbols associated with the planets on this date at this time:

Sun/Moon: 05 Aries – a triangle with wings

Earth: 05 Libra – a man teaching the true inner knowledge of the new world to his students

Chiron: 06 Aries – a square brightly lighted on one side

Black Moon: 07 Aries – a man successfully expressing himself in two realms at once

Uranus: 05 Taurus – a widow at an open grave

Venus: 21 Taurus – a moving finger points to significant passages in a book

North Node: 04 Cancer – a cat arguing with a mouse

South Node: 04 Capricorn – a group of people entering a large canoe for a journey by water

Jupiter: 24 Capricorn – a woman entering a convent

Pluto: 25 Capricorn – an Oriental rug dealer in a store filled with precious ornamental rugs

Mars: 26 Capricorn – a nature spirit (fairy) dancing in the mist of a waterfall

Saturn: 01 Aquarius – an old adobe mission

Mercury: 07 Pisces – illuminated by a shaft of light, a large cross lies on rocks surrounded by sea and mist

Neptune: 19 Pisces – a master instructing his disciple

A New Way of Looking at the  Calendar

And I have spared no expense at the production of this new calendar. Any close inspection will see that it is a Gregorian 202 calendar that I got from my bank that I was not using. So I cut it out in a new and unique way. I will be posting the lunar phase each month. Since I am not sure where this is going, this is where it starts. Basic lunar phases and times (where I had them). Most almanac sites are nice enough to give you the 4 cardinal phases (New, 1st Quarter, Full and 3rd Quarter). We know that the in between phases (Crescent, Gibbous, Disseminating and Balsamic) fall in-between. Getting an exact date and time is not quite so clear. But I am sure I will find a decent source to quote these times. Give me a week.

You can also see that there are some holidays filled in (The Easter Holidays for the most part). This is just the luck of the draw as that is what they put in this calendar. For my part, there is a lot to fill in.

RESOLUTIONS

Since we are on the New Year theme, I want to write down a resolution or two. In the astrology world, we do this now because:

  1. It is the New Moon Phase of the Year, a time to set intentions.
  2. It is the New Moon Phase in Aries, also good to set intentions (and start anything new)

So I Resolve to blog daily (Or as close to daily as I can) about the days of the lunar month. There are lots of things to talk about that have been either forgotten or lost or just unknown in each of our worlds. I will try to stay away from ridiculous government Official Days (Like National Tulip Day – It’s not that I know of, but I could not think of anything funnier). But if I discover or find an observance that has some significance to it (Like March 9th this year was Holi – a holiday in India that is pretty significant – 1.4 Billion Asian Indians are aware of it and only a tiny sliver of the 320 million people here in the US have even heard of it) I will try to make a point of it.

Somehow, I will also relate it to my garden. Times right now (with the Coronavirus offering us as close a view of the Zombie Apocalypse as we have ever seen) allow us to admit that being a little better Prepared is a good thing. And Astrogardens began paying attention to this.

So thank you for reading through this and please come back.

ASTR101 – The Solar System to Scale

The Solar System

Back many many years ago, when I was in college in the 80’s, I took an astronomy class. It fulfilled my science requirement with a lab. And since I had no interest in the sciences (I had OD’s on them in high school with Advanced Chem and Advanced Bio) this would do.

This morning, I saw a post on Facebook that reminded me of one of the more educational labs we did. The “experiment” was to make a scale model of the solar system. And the process of creating it ( in our short 3-hour lab) was much less cool than the video I am about to share with everyone, it was just as educational.

Probably one of the more mind bending parts of understanding the Universe is scale. We simply do not have any frame of reference here on earth to feel it.

So we started at one end of the longest hallway at San Diego State University. I believe it was 2 buildings that had been Frankensteined together making one massively long hallway. There, we took a sheet of paper and traced a circle the size of a quarter – and taped the paper to the wall.

Then we were given measurements – and I forget whether they made us use tape measures or just counting out footsteps. A dot some 30 steps down the hallway was Mercury. Another dot some 50 or more steps further was Venus. As I recall, the Hallway did not allow us to get past Jupiter.

The question asked at each planet was to look at the papers we had taped up before and think about how much we could actually see of the dots we put on the paper.

The Video

For the purposes of my blog, I cannot share the video that I saw this morning. But I can send you to the site to see it yourself. You understand the whole plagiarism thing. But I thought it was so cool, that I wanted to talk about it and share it.

Every solar system model you’ve seen is wrong

So these filmmakers mapped out the true scale of the planets’ orbits in the sand.

https://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/space/stories/every-solar-system-model-youve-seen-is-wrong?fbclid=IwAR2H3DIf9sNVlfGEptb-TO17wROwD_Fmtimm0v4POJC8ESuTUibAD0Aew88

The video is educational, beautiful and awe-inspiring. It shows off our planet’s place in the solar system, and it offers perspective on just how small Earth is in the grand scheme of things. The entire film is captivating, but perhaps the most poignant moment is at sunrise, when the real sun matches the model’s sun, showing that the representation is accurate.

So please go watch and enjoy!

ASTR101 – New Moon in Leo – July 31, 2019 11:11 PM EST

NEW MOON: begin, initiate, wish, project, set an intention

At the time of the New Moon, we mark it at 0 degrees. The Moon moves across the sky at a rate of about .5 degrees per hour – or about 12 degrees per day. We split that into the eight phases of the moon, each with its own energetic signature.

NEW MOON

At the time of the New Moon, the Moon is located directly in between the Sun and the Earth. You might ask, :Then why do we not have an eclipse every month at the New Moon?” I will get into this question another time. But it has to do with the orbital plane of the Moon being different than that of the Earth to the sun.

For the Leo Cycle, this happened at 11:11 PM on July 31. The Moon and Earth were at 8 degrees 37 minutes of Leo. We round up to 9 degrees to get the Sabian Symbol that will describe the energy activated – “glass blowers shape beautiful vases with their controlled breathing”

REMEMBER THE SCRAMBLER

If you remember the analogy of the Scrambler – Carnival Ride, This is the point where you feel like you are suspended in air. The torque is ab out to take hold. You are about to accelerate. But it has not started.

Since it is the beginning, it is said that it is a good time for us to set intentions for the Lunar Month.

Kind of like New Years resolutions, you can follow the same type of plans each month by setting intentions. These may not need to be as long ranging (Like quitting cigarettes or losing 50 lbs). This is the time to start. The energy is ramping up and you will be in prime position to launch whatever your intention. It will be supported by the increasing energy of the Moon; you will be as if surfing the lunar cycle.

The day of the New Moon is a quiet time to pause and rest in nature. As it is good complete the old before starting something new, the last few days before the New Moon are good for getting rid of things you don’t want to have any more in your life, like bad habits.

Also, your body may not be able to recuperate or heal as well or as quickly around the New Moon. This should be taken into account when planning a surgery.

Similarly, the New Moon can mark a low point in the emotional life, so people who are prone to depression should be careful about the surrounding emotional atmosphere on these days.
