The Five Senses Grounding Technique
This was the first technique taught in my Training class. I think that when I was seeing it, I was so blown away that they recognized the process that I had to go back and read it again a few times.
Five Senses Grounding Technique
(Helps with anxiety, panic attacks, anytime you need to remain calm or feel disconnected from your body)
Look around you and tune into your five senses.
Identify and silently name to yourself:
5 things you can SEE right now.
4 Things you can TOUCH or FEEL now.
3 Things you can HEAR right now.
2 Things you can SMELL right now (If you do not smell anything,name yourtwo favorite smells)
1 Thing you can taste right now. (If you don;t taste anything, then name your favorite taste)
