Wednesday, March 25, 2020 – What is the New Moon Phase all about

New Moon – Beginnings, setting intention, initiate, set a wish or intention

Ideas, hopes, wishes, or dreams that were “seeded” during the New Moon phase

I wrote an Article about the New Moon Phase back in July

At the time of the New Moon, the Moon is located directly in between the Sun and the Earth. You might ask, :Then why do we not have an eclipse every month at the New Moon?” It has to do with the orbital plane of the Moon being different than that of the Earth to the sun. 2 times per year, they meet (at the Spring and Autumn Equinox) and can potentially offer us an eclipse.

The Moon does not generate any light itself. The bright moon is caused by the light of the Sun reflecting off its surface. So we can only see brightness on the side of the Moon that faces the sun. When the Moon is stationed in between, we see nothing but darkness.

Astrologically, it is said that the energy of the Moon is at its lowest point. It is the starting point of the lunar cycle.

Born Under the New Moon

Do you know what phase the moon was in when you were born. This is not a common piece of astrology that is looked at. In my opinion, one that is not given the importance it deserves. After discovering my own, I was able to see its influence over my life. I may talk more about that when we get to the disseminating phase (HINT HINT).

If you do not know it, it is simple to find. Go to a search engine. Search:

“Lunar Phase at Birth”

There are many sites that will give you this information. I will outline the basic lunar phase astrology for each phase in upcoming posts. But for now, we are starting

New Moon – Low Energy Phase

  • In tune with what they want
  • Try new things with Childlike wonder and innocence
  • It is a loving energy
  • Drawn to try new things and follow trends
  • They are Creative idea people
  • Aggressively go after what they want
  • Always a shiny new idea on the horizon
  • Dog like enthusiasm – like a large labrador chasing things around

But

  • Energy can bee fleeting
  • Fizzles out before its done
  • Dog like enthusiasm like ADHD – jumping to the next shiny object they see and forgetting what they were aggressively attacking moments before
  • Cloaked in a darkness around themselves – Unable to see how they are from an outside perspective.

How New Moon people can Relate to the other phases.

  • Low Energy phases are good – Including Balsamic, New and Crescent – This is when mind and heart are in alignment
  • High energy Phases are more Difficult – Gibbous, Full and Disseminating
  • Full Moon is a time to look inward and focus on personal reflection. The energy at full moon is the full expression of the energy exposed at the New Moon. It is more intense though.
  • Quarter Phases use to evaluate self.

SO . . . What Does all this mean about today?

For the New Moon Phase in Aries, 2020, we need to look at the Date of the New Moon (yesterday 3/24) and interpret the Sabian Symbols for the day.  I listed these in yesterday’s post

For the New Moon, the Sabian Symbol for the Sun is “A Triangle with Wings”.  Personally, this symbol has always bothered me. The Triangle imagery speaks of Illuminati influences. Even stronger for me was that when I first encountered the symbol, I noticed a character on a TV cartoon that my kids would watch all the time (Gravity Falls). And being the ADD type that I am, would often get pulled into the show.  Though he does not have wings, he did fly. He was an interdimensional being  who caused trouble and invoked chaos.

Well anyway, consider what this means to you.  You may just consider it and ask about what it means to you. You also might want to dig deeper. Look at your personal Natal Astrology Chart and compare it to the energetics of the New Moon yesterday. If you do not have a copy of your chart, you can get one by ordering it here:

And Something Fun

from wikipedia

Tolkien, and the use of Tolkien’s works in education and library groups. The date of 25 March was chosen in honour of the fall of Sauron, in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

ASTR101 – New Moon in Leo – July 31, 2019 11:11 PM EST

NEW MOON: begin, initiate, wish, project, set an intention

At the time of the New Moon, we mark it at 0 degrees. The Moon moves across the sky at a rate of about .5 degrees per hour – or about 12 degrees per day. We split that into the eight phases of the moon, each with its own energetic signature.

NEW MOON

At the time of the New Moon, the Moon is located directly in between the Sun and the Earth. You might ask, :Then why do we not have an eclipse every month at the New Moon?” I will get into this question another time. But it has to do with the orbital plane of the Moon being different than that of the Earth to the sun.

For the Leo Cycle, this happened at 11:11 PM on July 31. The Moon and Earth were at 8 degrees 37 minutes of Leo. We round up to 9 degrees to get the Sabian Symbol that will describe the energy activated – “glass blowers shape beautiful vases with their controlled breathing”

REMEMBER THE SCRAMBLER

If you remember the analogy of the Scrambler – Carnival Ride, This is the point where you feel like you are suspended in air. The torque is ab out to take hold. You are about to accelerate. But it has not started.

Since it is the beginning, it is said that it is a good time for us to set intentions for the Lunar Month.

Kind of like New Years resolutions, you can follow the same type of plans each month by setting intentions. These may not need to be as long ranging (Like quitting cigarettes or losing 50 lbs). This is the time to start. The energy is ramping up and you will be in prime position to launch whatever your intention. It will be supported by the increasing energy of the Moon; you will be as if surfing the lunar cycle.

The day of the New Moon is a quiet time to pause and rest in nature. As it is good complete the old before starting something new, the last few days before the New Moon are good for getting rid of things you don’t want to have any more in your life, like bad habits.

Also, your body may not be able to recuperate or heal as well or as quickly around the New Moon. This should be taken into account when planning a surgery.

Similarly, the New Moon can mark a low point in the emotional life, so people who are prone to depression should be careful about the surrounding emotional atmosphere on these days.

ASTR101 – What is a Black Moon?

I am completely lifting an article from another site (Time and Date.com) due to its relevance to now and the irony about it. I did get rid of all of its internal links – and recommend that if you are interested, please visit them. Time and Date is a very useful site. I use it often as a reference.

Much of Astrological information is plagued by misnomers. One person will name something and something else similar will take its place. So it is with the subject of The Black Moon. If you know anything about The Oracle Report, you have heard of The Black Moon (also referred to at Black moon Lilith and other such names).

THIS ARTICLE talks more about a nickname for a specific moon phase that does not happen very often. You may have hear of a “Blue Moon” or “The Harvest Moon”. This specific usage is in that vein, and I wanted to draw attention to it.

When Is the next Black Moon?

There are several definitions of a Black Moon. It can be the third New Moon in an astronomical season with four New Moons or the second New Moon in the same calendar month.

Black Moon is not a well known astronomical term. In recent years, the term has been made popular by social media, astrologers, and followers of the Wiccan religion.

No Single Definition

There is no single accepted definition of a Black Moon. The term has been commonly used to refer to any of the following phenomena associated with the New Moon:

  • Second New Moon in the same month: These Black Moons are the most common ones, and they occur about once every 29 months. Because of time zone differences, the month they happen in can vary, like the Black Moon in July 2019 (US) or August 2019 (UK).
  • Third New Moon in a season of four New Moons: These Black Moons are a little rarer, and occur about once every 33 months. We divide a year into four seasons – spring, summer, fall (autumn), and winter. Usually, each season has three months and three New Moons. When a season has four New Moons, the third New Moon is called a Black Moon. This is the exact counterpart to the original definition of a Blue Moon, except that Blue Moons are Full Moons.
  • No New Moon in February: About once every 19 years, there is no New Moon in February. This can only happen in February, as this is the only month which is shorter than a lunar month (lunation). When this occurs, both January and March have two New Moons, instead of just one, which is the norm. The next Black Moon by this definition will occur in 2033, while the last one was in 2014. Because of time zone differences, these Black Moons may not happen all over the world. For instance, there is a Black Moon in the most western parts of the US in February 2022, but not in Europe or Australia.
  • No Full Moon in February: About once every 19 years, February does not have a Full Moon. Instead, there are two Full Moons in January and March, also known as a double Blue Moon. The next Black Moon by this definition will occur in 2037, while the last one was in 2018. Because of time zone differences, these Black Moons may not happen all over the world.

Invisible New Moon

New Moon is the Moon phase we cannot see at all from Earth, as only the far side of the Moon is illuminated.

However, 2–5 times a year, the New Moon comes between Earth and the Sun, causing a solar eclipse. The New Moon, or at least a part of it, is then visible as a silhouette in front of the Sun.

Significant in Pagan Culture

Black Moons hold special significance to people who practice certain forms of Pagan religions and who believe certain actions become more potent when performed on the night of a Black Moon.

New Moon in Taurus – May 15, 2018

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

FROM ORACLE REPORT (www.oraclereport.com)

Happy New Moon in Taurus! The new month offers us the gain of a new opportunity or the regaining of one that we thought was lost to us, specifically by following the line of integrity and crossing the line of possibility.  As we journey through this year’s astrological theme of “through imagination, a lost opportunity is regained,” this month we work this with the angle of the degree of today’s New Moon: “a well-kept public park.”

New Moon Phase:  begin, initiate, wish, set an intention

Moon in Taurus

Sun:  25 Taurus –  “A large, well-kept public park”

Earth: 25 Scorpio – “an X-ray photograph”

Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: “through imagination a lost opportunity is regained”

Emissaries of the Aeon Sophia:  Shodashi (She Who Aligns With The Highest and Best)

Emissary of the Aeon Thelete: Ian (He of the East)

I am excited for the energy of this New Moon Phase. For the Aries cycle, the symbol “through imagination a lost opportunity is regained” speaks to making plans and acting on them to create a new reality. For this blog, that is about my garden. Starting my garden. Planning the garden. Preparing the soil. Planting the seeds. Nurturing them. All about getting ready.

A large, well-kept public park

The Taurus cycle speaks of how I want it to be. It is clean. It is natural. It is part of our world. While it is not exactly public, anyone can see it – we have no fences or gates. And my hope is that the neighbors along our alley will see it and ask. I want to share the fruits of this garden with friends and neighbors.

I like where this symbol is leading. Being New Moon, it is time to set intentions by it. And my vision, is in color and I am loving what I am seeing. It is now up to me to make it happen.
