I just read a very interesting and fascinating article.

The Great Silencing of America and the Hallmarks of Woke Totalitarianism

It makes the case that, well, we are fucked. Our beautiful, free society has been taken over by 1984-esque psychos. And we have welcomed it in blindly. It has taken over like a disease (think Gonorrhea rather than COVID19).

It is linked here, but i do not recommend reading it.

WOKE TOTALITARIANISM ARTICLE HERE IF YOU WANT

You can try if you would like. but it is not written in English. Or at least not in English you or anyone wants to understand. It’s over-the-top academic gobbledegook.

And I am an expert in readability. Part of my goal here on Astrogardens is readability. I will let you in on a little AG secret. When an article is easier to read, more people read it and understand it.

I use a secret tool that tells me how readable an article is. It is called the Flesch Kincaid Reading ease score. They look at all sorts of things like spelling, grammar, word length, sentence length. It send the piece through a special machine somewhat like the Star Belly Sneach machine from Dr. Seuss. In the, you get a score.

For my basic writing score, it generally comes in between 5th and 7th grade reading level. The Totalitarianism article came in at 20th grade.

You may ask, isn’t 5th-7th grade level a little simple? Might it almost be insulting to your readers? Think again. Or read again. Look at the article above and see if it catches your interest or whether you just skim past all of the ponderous sentences and big words. Even better, read it out loud. Read it in front of an audience. Your spouse. Your kids. Your Dog. Does it keep their interest? Then read Astrogardens. You will figure it out pretty quick.

You do not need long sentences and big words to make important points. You need to be articulate.

Happy Monday! Make a list of things that make you happy and then plan your day accordingly. Have a great week!

What things make you happy?

It’s a question for the ages. And how many of those things are we doing throughout the day. vs How many things are we doing throughout the day that we do not like.

I see this as an important lesson for people to do. Consider the things you like and write them down. Writing them down is important.

It is like bringing them to life.

I like a good cup of coffee. For me that is easy. I go to my coffee pot and pour a cup. No going to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. Just straight out of the machine. Strong, Black, Hot. I can see the pot out in the kitchen from where I sit. Easy enough to go out and pour some more. In this I am lucky. I like the coffee that I brew better than anything else. Saves me a hell of a lot of money vs. buying it from some bougie coffee shop.

This is what I like.

What about you? Do you have your perfect cup of coffee? Can you imagine it? Where you get it. what you put in it. How it smells and tastes. Is getting that cup of coffee an experience? What about the experience do you enjoy?

Life is filled with seemingly simple decisions that have so much more complexity than we think about.

The Point

But the point of this exercise is to begin to focus on things that you like. And see what we can do to bring more of it into our lives.

If you are lucky then you enjoy your job. They say if you are doing what you love then you never “work” a day in your life. I have been lucky that when i have had “jobs” that they have been doing things that I like. I had one job that I seriously did not like. I needed a job and it presented itself. But it was drudgery every day for the six months I worked at it. Leaving work was like being released from prison. And after having experienced it, I will not repeat it ever.

I bring up work because it is often what we do most often. Unless you are independently wealthy, the money has to come from somewhere. So the idea is to find a job where you are making money doing what you like.

I had another job that I worked at for 7 years. I loved what I was doing. But I could not stand the people i was doing it for. I could go into work, stay in my office and do all I had to do and interact with my bosses as little as possible. It was a trade off. I truly enjoyed what I did. The money was good.

Eventually it ended, and that was a good thing. I found a better job – also doing work I loved. I have been lucky in that regard.

So Back to the List.

Try it today. List things you like. Put them in categories. Consider what parts of your life they may have an effect on.

Is your life entirely made up of the things you like? Probably not. But can you maximize the good things and minimize the bad?

We can hope.

– Gardening tips  (from the Farmer’s Almanac) – June 18th – 20th –Seeds planted now tend to rot in ground.

– Aspect of the Aeon Sophia: (Wisdom): Bagalamukhi (The Storm-Calmer) – All are on Duty this month but Bagalamukhi is taking the lead.

– Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Month: “The garden of the Tuileries in Paris” (& Two men playing Chess)

– Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: “A Triangle with Wings”

SUN: 28 GEMINI – Society granting bankruptcy to him, a man leaves the court

EARTH: 28 SAGITTARIUS – An old bridge over a beautiful stream in constant use

Methinks the Sabian Symbols for today may not fully appreciate the energies at hand right now. Sun/Earth are conjunct the nodes – at the Galactic Center – Square to Mars. With Mercury Retrograde. Maybe more of a bridge over troubled water than a beautiful stream, but safety of the bridge seems clear.

I woke today with more of the less than gentle times on my mind.

  • Plandemic
  • Riots
  • Tearing down statues
  • Farenheit 451 / 1984 happening before our eyes – Books Burning – history being rewritten
  • John Bolton’s Book, despite being sued to stop publication, gleefully being extolled by the lamestream media – since they are reading from their advanced secret copies.
    • Let’s not forget that this is the same lamestream who were calling for impeachment when Trump even suggested having Neocon Bolton in a position of Power.

A song lyric entered my head that I could not shake:

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand

From the Song Witch Hunt from Rush – off their Moving Pictures Album. I loved that album and played the vinyl edition more times that can be counted back in the early 80’s.

Rush was one of those subversive bands that hid messages in their lyrics. I remember people always wanted to imagine satanic images in all rock and roll. The subversion in Rush was much deeper – political messages that were not related to underprivileged working class people or the environment.

Witch Hunt was all about Mob mentality – what happens when The Shit Hits the Fan and mobs take over. Are they chasing the Salem Witches? are they chasing rogue Police? Hmmm? Who exactly is being lynched?

I think we are in need of some of that Galactic Center Energy!
