I confess, I am not much of a Church goer. I grew up surrounded by Christianity. Our church was Episcopalian (read that as Catholocism without the pope). My wife belongs to a UCC church. When I attend anything with her, my agreement is to follow the rules of proper etiquette and never discuss controvesial subjects like politics or religion.
My reason for bringing this up at all was because of an incident this morning (Sunday) as my wife sat to listen to church online. The UCC is by its own definition is a loose organization of churches that follow the same basic beliefs. On the political spectrum, they are Liberal (with a Capital L and a whole bunch of exclamation points).
They believe in female clergy. Acceptance of all sexualities and genderisms. Fighting for social justice. etc etc etc ad nauseum. Again, I stay out of the discussions.
Contrast this with denominations like the Catholics (who shun all mention and thought of such things while secretly agreeing with them behind the backs of the chuch) and the Southern Baptists (who just shun all mention or thoughts of such things). –
Back to the incident. While my wife was listening to church (and I was absorbing it like second hand smoke) I heard something disturbing. Below I have transcribed the group confession that is performed each Sunday. Now this same confession is beamed out to all UCC churches – who then have the right to decide whether or not to use it in worship. That menas somewhere in the neighborhood of 700,000 (or maybe a fourth of that because so many people skip church now a days)
Unlike the Catholics who have private confessions with a priest in a little booth in the back of the church where they tell the priest about all the lies the told and how many times they mastrubated – and that same celebate priest tells them to go say 2 Our Fathers and 7 Hail Mary’s and they are forgiven. The Episcopals say the exact same confessional prayer that was written a hundred years ago that I could probably repeat verbatim as I was a required memorization..
But the UCC does it this way. And frankly, I was astounded at the level of mind control was contined in it. Because I believe that though it says something different each week, the people reciting it still do so in unison and without much actual thought into what they are being told.

Call to Confession: We confess our shortcomings, not for shame or guilt, but to wrestle honestly with the impact we have on one another. We share in collective confession to bear witness to the struggles of learning and unlearning under systems of domination and exploitation. In so doing, we remember that grace and accountability are healing friends, not divisive foes. In this spirit, let us join together in confession.
Prayer of Confession: God of the mighty prophets, humble teachers, and gentle companions, you equip each of us to join in the lineage of the saints, to support the labors of collective liberation, but we confess, we struggle to take our place. We deny our own power or overestimate it. We accept the way things are and the patterns we inherit. We commit to institutions over people. We confess that though we pray for your kingdom to come, we support conditions that keep it at bay. Pour out your grace among us and build us up in community. Tend the wounds that keep us from our sacred potential and deliver us from temptation to find our safety and security in any power but yours. Amen.
Now please tell me whether you detect all the Marxist Dogma contained within it. For me it was second hand smoke until I started to gag on it!

I often ask myself how people, seemingly intelligent and educated people at that, get sucked into ideologies like this. But looking at and hearing this, you see that it is plain and simple. God told them to.. Or at least something speaking in God’s name told them. Someone they trust. Someone they look up to. Someone they have been trained to trust.
Funny thing is that most people, when they express concern about religions forcing their political beliefs on their congregations are talking about the Baptists or the Catholics – who outwardly disagree with the more radical ideologies of the left.
But let me tell you, it is obvious the UCC has spent a lot of time crafting their messages. And do not be shocked if that source is the same one holding the puppet strings of the US media or the Democrat party of the USA.
Just sayin’. Pay Attention!
