The Decline of Western Civilization

I have spoken at length about the movement in the United States to transform our culture. And that movement has sought to change/train the mindset of our society to be more accepting of being controlled by a larger and more powerful government. It seeks a government in control of the population and in control of most of the aspects of our life. In more base or political terms, more Socialist than Capitalist.

The problem has always been that the foundation of this country is incompatible with Socialism and its version of societal control. Our foundation is in personal freedom and sovereignty.

The only way to change our society into a socialist one would be to fundamentally change everything. It requires an upheaval of the minds of the people. And in order to make it work, to change everything that the youth of the country was taught.

This process started many years ago and was spearheaded during the Cold War (1950’s through 1980’s). An intellectual movement called The Frankfurt School infiltrated the education system – mostly starting at the top – in the Universities. Using a process called Critical Theory, they began tearing at the fabric of Western thought.

Critical Theory seeks to change opinion by looking at history and critiquing it, rather than looking at it to try to understand it. The critique involves using the Marxist principle of the hegelian dialectic, which resolves questions through thesis, antitheis and synthesis. Each idea (thesis) inevitably gives rise to its opposite (antithesis), and their conflict leads to a higher unity (synthesis).

Magically, the synthesis will resolve itself around a Marxian principle. Like:

Racism is Bad –> You must be an Antiracist –> If not, you are a Racist

They then go on to define all the things that make a good Antiracist that you must follow in order not to be a racist (hint all of them involve being a good marxist as well).

Global Warming is Bad –> Petroleum Products cause Global Warming –> We must ban all Petroleum Products

And so on and so forth. You accept the Synthesis or else you are bad.

This intellectual war has been fought over the past 75 or so odd years. If you have been watching, the Critical Theorists have been winning on that battle front. To the point that a majority of the Universities teach the Synthesized information as fact. And kids today have been completely indoctrinated into their line of thinking. Is it any wonder that among Generation Z today, a majority have a positive view of Socialism?

BUT . . . It is more than just Intellect

None of this would work if the face of a strong moral foundation. And this is another aspect of the war on Western Civilization. Today I heard a recording of a speech made by Paul Harvey back in 1965. On the one hand, it comes from a very Christian point of view – which was much more prevalent back in 1965. But if you can filter that out, consider his words in light of the mindset of youth then vs what it has become in the 60 years since.

By Paul Harvey in 1965

“If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I’d have a third of its real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.

To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…

And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the devil I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the devil I’d take from those who have, and give to those who want until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.

And what do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work in Patriotism, in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus, I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.”

Paul Harvey, good day.
