Where is our Democracy?
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.”
Our Country (USA) was created as a republic. We elect representatives to our government to make decisions and run it. They live by the rules put down by our constitution. And, probably better than any other on the planet right now, live by our rules.
At least that is the theory. Because let’s face it, if we are paying attention, we know that the “elected officials” are not deciding anything. It is being decided for them by a much larger and more onerous group of rulers. Unelected and for the most part, unnamed. We will call them The Cabal for lack of a better term.
The propaganda arm of the Cabal (the mainstream media) convince the herd animals that what they want is what the herd wants. If all goes according to plan, the Cabal gets a compliant government ruling over a compliant country.
But part of that story has been, over the past few years, to refer to our government as “Our Democracy.” I recall a very disturbing event back in 2018. At a specific time in the evening, all the news channels in the Sinclair Broadcasting Group read a statement regarding Fake News. It was in response to a growing distrust people were having for most of the media, due to bias during the early stages of the Trump presidency. It led to a lot of finger pointing and grumbling
Trump had very successfully pointed out, and loudly stated, that they were reporting “FAKE NEWS.” It worked so successfully for Trump, that the media tried to commandeer the phrase for their own. They would shout it whenever he would stretch the truth. In fact they created a whole new industry just for Trump called “fact checkers” and would flip to a panel of them any time he spoke.
Back to the “Democracy” thing
But anyways, this branding of “Our Democracy” has stuck with the Cabalists. They like it. In fact it might be the only thing in the least bit patriotic coming from the American Cabalist Left. A Democracy sounds good. It sounds like “the will of the people.” It sounds like the name of their favored political party – The Democrats. And, for the most part, none of them even have a clue what a “Democracy” is.
Now I do. In college I took a lot of poly sci classes. They were 1) Generally easy to get good grades in, 2) Easy to get enrolled in (my school SDSU was overcrowded and hard to get enough courses in a semester to qualify as a full time student), and 3) fun. They were fun because the entire poly sci department were ardent socialists, they thought they could convert the masses by teaching their propaganda, and they all loved to argue.
A true democracy is where everything is decided by a vote of all the people. It is a winner take all system. On the one hand, you are getting the will of the people. On the other, the “people” can be swayed by the emotion of the moment. And in many cases, controlled by popular factions. For practical purposes, it does not work. A majority can decide to do just about anything. And those in the minority . . . are basically screwed.
We, on the other hand, are a republic. We elect representatives democratically to serve as a governing body and trust them to represent the will of the people they represent. Taking the power away from a single person or an angry mob. We are also protected by our Constitution and Bill of Rights which tell these representatives what they can and cannot do.
Probably the only place in the US we have had something close to true democracy has been in New England in their Town Meeting communities. Otherwise, we have trusted in representatives. Which makes it a funny thing how politicians, especially on the Democrat side, speak about the country as Our Democracy. As far as I am concerned it is a dog whistle for “we are going to take over and you are going to like it.”
This missive is to serve as a reminder to all of us to be wary of those who want to preach about Our Democracy. It would not be a good thing to have this. On the contrary, we should remember that it is our Republic that protects us.
