Easy Access to the Divine
It is funny that when people begin talking about achieving other states of consciousness that they do not usually talk about dreaming.
According to Google AI (who are quoting a whole bunch of sleep experts:
Everyone dreams every night, though most people don’t remember their dreams. On average, people experience about 3 to 5 REM sleep cycles per night, and dreams are most vivid during these periods
And while academic scientists and kooks study sleep to the nth degree, they still do not have much of an idea about where we go when we sleep. What the subconscious mind is “dreaming” up.
There are documented instances of “collective” dreaming (where many people or large groups of people experiencing the same or similar elements). It would suggest that there is the ability to connect in this subconscious world. That there is a divine realm that we are visiting (nightly if AI is quoting it right).
Of course no one in the scientific community are about to admit any of this. Is this because they are afraid the mainstream will laugh at them? Or maybe it is because THEY know and will do all in their power to make sure the collective do not find out. You can do some research of your own about The Montauk Project if you are looking for a real deep rabbit hole.
My point in bringing it up is to note that the research has been and is being done. And the results of that research will not likely ever see the light of day in any meaningful way.
So if we want to know more about the subject, we will need to follow other people’s musings on the subject. Specifically, explorative fiction.
I happen to be reading 2 different novels that feature dreaming as a main plot device. The first is The Wheel of Time (I am in the middle of book 12 of 14 books). This book, called The Gathering Storm follows 2 of the main characters as they navigate the dream world, called the Wolf Dream by one and Tel aran rhiod by the second. Each of the characters are learning to navigate and control that world while living within the waking world as well. More on that series later.
The second book is by Sol Luckman called Snooze.

____________________________
I discovered this book about 10 years ago while scrolling on Facebook. I seem to recall the post talked about Lucid Dreaming and Space-Time and Big Foot. And it was part of a story. I was hooked.
I also noted that it was a YA (Young Adult) novel. I read a lot of YA. At the time, I was either in the middle of Harry Potter or had just finished it for the second or third time. As a writer myself, I read YA novels because they are usually written at an easier grade level, which is what I strive to do in my own writing. When you write easily (at a lower grade level) it is easier for the reader to read and understand.
It looked like a fun read. I bought the Kindle book and started on Friday and was finished by early Sunday. It is a 477 page book, so you can imagine how much time I spent reading that weekend.
I think I have read it about 4 or 5 times since. I even began a blog series about it where I would read a chapter every day or so and write about it afterwards.
