Intentions for Gregory’s 2025th Year

It is days such as these that make us all question the following of different calendars. For a bit we can ask why. Then go about the business of the day.

Astrologically, we mark the beginning of the astrological New Year as the first New Moon in Aries. So it is never the same.

The Gregorian Calendar is actually a revision of the Julian Calendar (Named for Julius Caesar) which was begun in about the year 46 BC. This was a revision from the Roman Calendar. Both of these calculated the Leap Year in such a way as to become inaccurate after a few hundred years. So in the year of our lord 1582, Pope Gregory the XIII (not the same Pope Gregory that Gregorian Chants were named after – that was Gregory I) instituted the new calendar by advancing the date by about 14 days or so and calling it even. There is even a rule they loosely follow:

The rule for leap years is:

Every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 100, but these centurial years are leap years if they are exactly divisible by 400. For example, the years 1700, 1800, and 1900 are not leap years, but the year 2000 is.

If you would like to read more on this, check out the wikipedia listing for Gregorian Calendar. It is either fascinating or incredibly boring depending on how interested you are in these things.

But Anyways . . .

My reason for bringing all this up is in regard to the annual habit of people creating New Years Resolutions. The first day of the year is often a good place to set goals and the like for the next 365 days. An even more consistent habit of most people making these resolutions is forgetting them within about a week of making them.

One way of sticking to the resolutions you set is by writing them down. So, I will be doing that here in a bit. For myself, it is more important to consider these on the Astrological New Year. But for now, I will keep up with the Jonses and list a few. Bear with me. These are for the most part personal things I need to do for me. But hopefully they can serve as a springboard for your own plans.

ALSO, I will not call my list Resolutions. Rather they will be Intentions. Maybe it’s a slippery way of getting out of following them to the letter of the law. I do not know. But it feels better to me.

My List of Gregorian Intentions

1) DIET – Such a funny intention because it is very common among people who do this. They look at themselves after a holiday season of gluttony and decide they need to lose some weight. I have a purpose for it though. Later this Spring, I will have to go through a knee replacement. I knew this was coming for a while (I tore the shit out of it when I was 18 and have been able to predict the weather for many years).

A little over a year ago I had a hospital declare that I was obese (which is a complete bunch of shit). But I went on the diet and immediately lost about 20 lbs. Did not keep it off for more than 6 months, but I can do that. The diet I follow is pretty simple: No unnatural sugar. No processed food. Simple in theory, but a bitch in practice. This means no bread or grains. No alcohol. All protein and fat. I started today. We will see how my mood holds up by the weekend.

The diet is for weight loss primarily. But it has an added bonus. Sugar inflames the joints. Without it in my diet, I hurt less. Win win to me.

Also, I need to build strength in my upper body. The procedure will put me on crutches for 2 months. Most people do not have arms with the strength to support a couple hundred pounds. So I will be working on that with my diet.

2) MONEY – I need more income. Life under the Biden economy has outpaced my income. So, I need more. I intend to accomplish this through my own natural cunning ability to write and entertain people. Astrogardens will be offering new and interesting opportunities for members to give me more money. And they will want to do this because of all the wonderful things I offer. Stay Tuned for that.

3) THE MAYAN CALENDAR – I have a working understanding of the Mayan Calendar. But it mostly baffles me. I need to put effort into understanding it. I have some great resources too. Laura Walker of OracleReport talks about Mayan Calendar regularly. Another Wise Owl Poppy Joy from New Zealand posts regularly about it and is exceptionally well versed in it.

4) THE MOON – It is a fascination of mine. After the last 12 years of tracking the phases, I have some insights I hope to share with people. (This may work into the whole Money thing I mentioned above.

5) WRITING – Astrogardens is a blog. To make it work, I have to create content. Mercury Retrograde was hard on me for the past couple months. I became blocked. Was it lack of inspiration? Was it lack of time? Whatever the cause, I am dispelling it now. And you will probably guess that the topics about may be part of what I will; be writing about.

Thus are my intentions for this 2024 the Gregorian year. I will lose weight, make more money, learn about some fascinating things and write about them.

Anyone interested in sharing theirs, please do so in the comments, where ever you may be reading this.
