Last weekend I made the mistake of clicking on an ad on youtube . . . and then watching it. It was for some kind of exercise program that centers on QiGong. And after hearing the elevator pitch decided to get the 1-month trial for a mere $9.99.

What a mistake, as clicking on the next page in the process triggered a $50 random charge against my account that I still have not been refunded despite many attempts. But that is less the point.

Dealing With the Pain

My reasons for seeking this technique are simple. I am in pain. It is from arthritis in my knees and I am waiting presently for replacement surgery. And as the days pass, the pain intensifies.

I have tried many things to help this up to now:

  • Physical Therapy – exercises for the last 6 years
  • Ibuprofin – pretty much non-stop for the last 10 years
  • naproxin – brutal on the system
  • Acetaminophin – useless
  • A multitude of compression sleeves
  • Steroid Shots – short term relief
  • Frankincense
  • CBD
  • THC
  • Smelly OTC mentholated glop
  • Ice/Heat
  • Weight loss
  • Sound Therapy
  • Energetic healing
  • Sugar cleansing

And while there has been some relief, it is short lived.

I am interested in what natural healing and Eastern Medicine have to offer as Western Medicine has left me pretty much crippled. And while I will be receiving bionic implants at some future date, I would like to find some better healthier solutions to my present condition.

Back to Ur Qi

Or in American English, you’re chi energy. This in one of those Eastern secrets (mostly hidden behind the veil of the Chinese language barrier and the Allopathic monopoly on medicine I would suppose) that we know little about.

I was not involved long enough in Karate lessons as a kid to learn more than basic kicks and punches. And I believe more of the real Eastern healing is involved in Chinese Kung fu rather than Japanese/Korean Tae Kwon Do, but who is counting.

The best description of chi energy I have heard was from Kevin Trudeau’s Your Wish is Your Command. He outlines many modes of helpful healing in this 13 CD training.

His story goes that he was meeting with a martial arts master who asked him to throw a punch, in order to gauge his ability. The punch would be thrown at a lit candle. Kevin proceeded to do as asked, throwing an elegant punch that landed mere centimeters from the flame. The master then threw a much shorter and less elegant punch at the candle, causing the flame to sputter out. And it was not from air displacement from the force of the punch. Rather it was expelled chi energy from inside of him.

The moral of the story was to show that you don’t know what you don’t know. And in this case, I believe that there is a whole hell of a lot that we don’t know about energy and energetic fields that we can learn. If only we can find the right teacher.

Now, I am not going to insult any of you who know about this with any explanations. These would be nothing more that copying from wikipedia because I do NOT KNOW much about this.

But I am going to share in my journey into exploring these energetic fields. I have nothing to lose in this journey and everything to gain. And at this point I have another 3+ weeks to take advantage of the training that I purchased (and to remember on September 10th to cancel the subscription before they charge me another $39.99).

I will be posing questions about this over the next few weeks and trying to answer them.

WHAT IS CHI or QI?

Qi is, quite simply, energy. Qi refers to the vital energy that constantly circulates throughout your body.

The concept of qi originates in China. The Chinese believe that everything has energy; animate and inanimate things. The food you eat, the air you breathe, the water you drink, and the earth you walk on. All of these have qi energy running through them. You could say that life itself is a combination of qi.

Yin, yang, and qi form the basis for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In order for the body and mind to be healthy, all three elements work in harmony with each other.

So let’s imagine yin is the food our body needs, yang is the way we metabolise the food and qi is the energy we derive from the two. When our yin is healthy and sufficient for our needs, and our metabolism works well, our qi is strong.

This is a simple WHAT as far as Qi. Enough to stew on for the moment. Or at least as much for the time that i have to write about it. I must get ready for bed and do some arm swings.
