Astrological Lunar New Year 2025
New Beginnings – Welcome to one of those odd holidays that is not very well celebrated. Saturday March 29th, 2025, the first New Moon in Aries at 6:57 AM EST, the Astrological New Year began.
This is a reconning by astrologers that follow the Natural cycles – specifically the Lunar cycle. Many Astrologers (like the ones who write for People Magazine or Cosmopolitan – the ones who do Horoscopes) recon it at 1 Aries, or about March 20th or 21st, also called the Spring Equinox.
This difference in reconning can harken back to the same thinking that brought us the Gregorian (and before that Roman) Calendars that are designed to make consistency in dating easy. I stick with the Natural Cycle of the New Moon, aligning with the energetic signature of the lunar cycle.
There is a lot to look at and consider at the new year.
FIRST: Look at the Chart and Sabian Symbols at the time of the New Year. This sets a number of energetic signatures that will follow us through the year. For 2025, this happened at 11 ARIES: the ruler of a nation. Each of the planets will carry the signatures of the symbols where they are on this date as well.
SECOND: Consider other energetics at this time. At the Full Moon, we had a lunar eclipse. On Saturday, we also experienced a solar eclipse. But since that was mainly over Europe and Africa, the mainstream news here in the US ignored it. In addition, we are in the midst of 2 retrogrades (Venus and Mercury) and we are in the shadow of Mars Retrograde. These energies will also carry with us through this Astrological year.
THIRD: And most importantly for each of us personally, is considering how these energetics affect you. This is done by comparing your own natal chart against the chart at the new year. Pay attention to where there are alignment and consider what that will mean for you over the next year.
