Making America Great
As political slogans go, I thought that Make America Great Again was a pretty fantastic one. It was really something that no one would disagree with, you might think.
And it wasn’t unique. In fact, it was pretty well used at the Presidential level more than once in my lifetime. Ronald Reagan, George Bush the first and Bill Clinton all used it during their campaigns. And why not. You would think that making out country better – Great in fact – would be the goal of every president.
It was taken as negative, however, since Trump was using it while comparing what he was offering to what Barack Obama had created and Hillary Clinton was proposing. And for those who do not remember, economic life under Obama was never Great. Though you never could possibly hear that from the media.
Let me take you back a few years. Obama took office at the beginning of a horrible recession (not his fault). It was the fault of an expensive war in the middle east. You can decide for yourself if it was revenge for 911 or just another excuse to keep the American Military Industrial Complex working (thanks Dick Cheney).
So BHO’s job was to lead us through the hard economic times. And he didn’t successfully. 2 years later, we were not better off than we had been two years before. Again, not that the media would have ever told people. But voters saw it and the congressional majority held by the Democrats evaporated completely.
I judged it personally by a couple of measures. I had been laid off during this time (thanks recession) and spent 3 full years unsuccessfully looking for a comparable job. I ended up semi-successfully converting myself into a consultant and working from home. I was in the same boat as so many who had lost jobs, all their savings, many their homes.
But even more painful was the lifestyle changes for everyone. No one had extra money. You would see it on the weekends when restaurants would be almost empty. People were not taking vacations. It was depressing.
But as far as political factions, neither had an answer. The democrats were dismal, and the Republicans had nothing exciting to offer.
Then came Trump with a catchy phrase that resonated. Make America Great Again. We all wanted some of that Great. I very clearly remember in the months after Trump was elected, the restaurants were full again. Were we better that fast? Hell no. But we all felt better and had a more positive outlook. And were again willing to splurge a little on ourselves. All the Hope and Change that had been promised was finally coming to fruition.
Despite the good times economically, the country was now at war. Prior to the coronavirus being released like the Kraken, we had 3 full years of a TDS epidemic. The cabal went insane with their fight and used every possible thing they could throw to win. Name calling – Sexist, pervert, misogynist, racist, xenophobe, racist. It was a race to find the most horrible thing that could smear him with.
Despite winning the presidency, he did not have a clear group of support. The Democrats lock-step hated him. The Never Trump republicans hated him. The media hated him. It was a cabalist coalition determined to take him down.
And they did. And we had 4 of the most dismal years of malaise one could imagine. So bad that they could not lie their way back into office 4 years later.
I love to imagine how the history books will write this in fifty years. I like to believe that they will see it for how it actually was rather than hos the cabalists have been trying to frame it in the media today.
Lantern Festival
We have seen three weeks of this new regime. And the changes we are seeing are seismic. The TDS is worse than during his first term. The difference is that the media cannot reframe what he is doing to their purposes. Change happened. And they could not, cannot, stop it.
Today coincides with the Chinese Lantern Festival with the Full Moon. And is the first Full Moon of Trump’s Presidency. I think that rather than the traditional Red lanterns, a change of colors might be more appropriate. We are ready here to reimagine what life can be. A much better life than we have seen in the past 4 years.
We should remember the phrase popularized by Lee Iacocca years ago.
Lead, Follow or Get out of the Way.
