When looking at your personal astrology, there is no better place to start than your sun sign – and specifically to the day and time you were born. Each year I pull I birth chart and compare it to the astrology of the day. Like The New Year and each new lunar month, this time has a specific energetic signature that will follow you through the year.
I will do a deep dive on the specifics of my Solar Return Chart tomorrow. But my initial thoughts for this focus on a few of my aspects.
Sun Sign – Gemini. your Sun sign describes your core identity, ego, motivations, and fundamental personality traits. I have never exactly grokked the meaning of one’s sun sign. People ask you what’s you sign and you say it. But how can that be a complete explanation of what you are all about. That is where the specific signs and their sabian symbols come into play.
Gemini 9° A quiver filled with arrows
This is a symbol of extreme alertness to the interests and needs of selfhood, and of high competency in pursuing any and all practical ends in view. There is a basic emphasis on the inalienable right of man to make demands on his fellows, or to bring to his service whatever may help him hold his place in the scheme of things. Here are the fruits of the self-discipline and training which equip an individual with the skills for which he will have continual use.
The keyword is PREPARATION.
When positive, the degree is unlimited personal capacity for rising to the issue of the moment on any level of experience, and when negative, querulous overconfidence and quixotic notions.
Ascendant – the degree at the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. When you look at your birth chart, this is the position at 9:00. Your Ascendent determines the first impressions you make, the way others see you, and your attitude. It’s also very important in astrology because it determines the sign of the 1st House of your birth chart, and therefore all the other Houses as well.
Sagittarius 19 – PELICANS, DISTURBED BY THE GARBAGE OF PEOPLE, MOVE THEIR YOUNG TO A NEW HABITAT
This Symbol shows being on the alert for intrusion and danger in your life and in the lives of those in your care, whether they are your own children or the children or youngsters of others. At times in your life, you may feel that conditions are changing and you and your family or friends don’t feel safe. You may need to move to a new situation which will provide more nourishment, safety and security and less danger. This can refer to an inner withdrawal; not wanting to watch the news, listen to bad information or thoughts and can happen on any level: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Concerns with survival. The endeavor to achieve mental, physical or emotional well being or peace. Safety and security concerns. Problems with rent or mortgage. Retreats.
Not prepared to compromise or cohabit. Mess and rubbish. People not being able to live together. Insecure and unpredictable conditions. Noisy neighborhoods.
Your Moon – your Moon describes your emotional side, your inner world, and your intuition.
Aquarius 28 – A TREE FELLED AND SAWED TO ENSURE A SUPPLY OF WOOD FOR THE WINTER
This shows the need to take what’s available in the environment and use it to your advantage. “Trees” sawed into logs to “Ensure a Supply of Wood for the Winter” implies the ability to be able to plan, or think ahead. By seeing what you’ll need for the future, you can work ahead of time to ensure there’s a good supply. There are many things that grow around us during life. Sometimes there can be other uses that are of greater benefit than just to let these things stand like monuments or memories. You may need to sacrifice something old to find its current usefulness. Gather resources when you can, don’t wait until supply might not be so readily available.
Gathering resources. Prepared for harder times. Stockpiling. Open fires. Publishing books. Renewable resources. The making of paper. Printing money. Fuel. Gas. Recycling.
Destroying the old for modern advances. Hoarding supplies and not sharing. Not planning ahead. Fear there won’t be enough. Environmental destruction.
In addition, you should look at the phase of the moon at the time you are born (for me that was the Disseminating Phase BTW)
Together, these symbols show a clearer picture of parts of your personality than just your sign.
