Solution Without a Problem
Back in 1995 or so, I worked for a battery company. I was in marketing, so I was tasked with looking for new and emerging markets for the future of the company (wow does that sound corporate). One of those projects were Electric Vehicles.
So I must admit my biases. 1) We were a lead-acid battery company (think Car batteries – but they are used for a lot of other things), 2) We had NO experience in other technologies, 3) Lead Acid batteries do not offer a suitable alternative to gas powered vehicles – for a lot of reasons, and 4) neither did any of the other battery technologies at the time (1995).
I was skeptical of any possibility of technology that could work in this application. Battery technology simply could not match petroleum based internal combustion engines.
It is 30 years later. It still can’t!
In Search of a Problem
Here is where the whole thing gets cloudy and weird. That is because the express problem that is trying to be solved is “Global Warming.” The theory is that cars (internal combustion engine) burning oil (fossil fuel), are causing too much Carbon Dioxide to be emitted into the air. The Carbon Dioxide is accumulating in the atmosphere and turning our earth into a giant greenhouse – causing the temperature of the planet to rise and creating a global catastrophe where people will die and the earth will be uninhabitable.
I am sure there are a hundred other steps they have written into the theory – all of which lead to a catastrophe as horrible as baby harp seals being clubbed to death for their fur. It is an entirely emotional argument, sprinkled with bits of “fact.” Enough “facts” to convince the non scientific to smile and nod and pull out their wallet to buy a special T-Shirt to advertise that they are a friend of the Earth.
Their problem: The Theory is/was a lie. Carbon emissions HAVE NOT caused the Earth to catastrophically warm up and cause global disasters and famine.
The “Electric Car” was a magic solution to the whole thing. If all cars were electric, we would not be burning fossil fuels. The Earth would be safer and cleaner and we would all live happily ever after.
30 years ago, I gave my assessment. The technology we have for electric cars could not match the Internal combustion engine. Both on performance and on cost. And 30 years later, it is still the case. For every $50,000 Tesla EV, there is a $25,000 Ford Taurus that beats it handily
Why Does it Continue?
Everything I have said so far is like a preface to the entire dystopian story. Just an introduction to a weird political saga that becomes more and more unbelievable.
Huge economic and political factions are driving in a direction that will not work and built on a foundation of lies. So there has to be an end game. Figure out that end game, and you figure out who is behind it.
I began this rant this morning after hearing about a plan by the Globalist Party of the USA (Democrats) to have their President Declare a Climate Emergency and give himself Emergency powers to . . . well . . . do whatever “he” wants.
Not necessarily and endgame, but definitely headed towards one.
Pay Attention folks. If you didnt think it was a wild ride before, its about to get there.
