What’s Going on in My Head This Tuesday?
This morning, I finished my book. It was actually the last book in a series of 14 books – The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. While it was not a surprise ending for me (Its the third time I have read it), it still left me shaken. You know. Shaken like for a half hour after riding a crazy roller coaster.
Some people might call that PTSD. Others will attribute it to the idea that after a roller coaster ride, you have literally been shaken. As for the books, I’ve just completed some 12,000 pages and lived about 3 years of the lives of these characters. They are like friends. It ended with a war. So I had to lose some of them as well. A well written book can take you through this emotional roller coaster.
So I am left with a bit of emptiness. Will I reread something else? Possibly Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? Catch up on some of the non fiction books I have stacked up? I have the Book of Five Rings, Project 369 and something from Carlos Casteneda. But I do not think I can go for that much depth.
I need a new muse and am open to suggestions. If you have any ideas, please leave them in the comments.
Speaking of the Entertainment Industry
Unless you were stuck under a rock, you cannot have missed the non stop hype that was heaped over the airwaves about the new Mission Impossible movie starring Tom Cruise. I did not see it. I will not see it. Just as I have not seen a single Tom Cruise movie beginning to end since Eyes Wide Shut.
For me it is a matter of principal. The man cannot act. Its is painful to watch him.
And more painful to see him interviewed (think the Oprah interview when he was jumping on the couches shouting how much he was in love with Katie Holmes).
But more important in this thread is in looking at what Mission Impossible (produced by Paramount – Parent company of CBS) means to the entertainment world.
FIRST: It’s Tomcat’s first real movie since he turned his back on Hollywood and made the propaganda film, Top Gun 2.
SECOND: Entertainment has taken a SERIOUS hit. We must point out that during a recession with high inflation, people do not have an extra $100 for a couple to go to the movies (Note here, I have 5 kids so a trip to the movies for the fam will cost me almost half my mortgage). BUT ALSO, Hollywierd and the Magic Kingdom have been putting out stinker after stinker of Woke bullshit films. And they are all tanking big time.
THIRD: They desperately need a hit and will spare NO expense to make it look like this one will be.
FORTH: They have to do EVERYTHING possible to blunt the effect of Sound of Freedom. More on this later!
Now I am going to through some numbers out there for you.
$291 Million
It has been called the most expensive movie ever (and certainly the highest budget of the franchise).
Domestic Box Office draw though 7/17: $83.7 Million
They claim this is the highest opening of the franchise. For yucks and giggles, I wanted to compare that against other historical movies. Here are the top 4.
Rank | Release | Opening |
---|---|---|
1 | Avengers: Endgame | $357,115,007 |
2 | Spider-Man: No Way Home | $260,138,569 |
3 | Avengers: Infinity War | $257,698,183 |
4 | Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens | $247,966,675 |
I am going out on a limb here. But this opening sucked eggs for the highest cost movie ever made. This was after a NON STOP BARRAGE of press junkets. EVERY single morning on CBS Mornings, they devoted at least 10 minutes of airtime promoting it (not counting multiple teasers (I have seen the midget short person AKA Mister Cruise ride his motorcycle off a cliff no less than 30 times).
The propaganda engine was going wild. And the worst was seeing the Monday broadcast where all the sycophants slobbered over it and tried to make the numbers I just shared sound AMAZING. Didn’t work.
My guess is that the cost of the airtime was not added to that $291 million cost figure, and what they spent was in excess a $30 million (I used to be a media buyer and can estimate pretty close).
But in addition to this, the item to pay attention to is another independent film called Sound of Freedom. It is an independent film produced by some outfit called Angel Studios. Mel Gibson was involved with it somehow. So the establishment hates it even more. Add to that it was about Human Trafficking, Child rape, and had a Christian message as well. ABSOLUTE POISON to the leftwing propaganda machine. All sorts of things they do not want people thinking about.
But the numbers tell the story.
Cost: $14.5 Million
10 day Box Office Gross: $84 million
The media have been absolutely savaging Mel Gibson for the past few weeks. This movie is definitely the reason. But they have pulled out all the stops.
As for the movie, the mainstream media and entertainment industry refuse to say a thing about it. Refuse. Nothing. No Interviews. No reviews. And they CERTAINLY will not be talking about is across the table on the morning shows.
The moral of this little story is simple. THEY do not want you to know ANYTHING abut what they want to tell you. This is a frighteningly obvious example of this phenomenon.
It is something you need to notice. Something you need to Pay Attention to.
