Uranus Retrograde
Today Uranus begins its 5 month trek backwards (retrograde). It does this every year, around the time the Earth comes to the quadrant in its orbit where Uranus happens to be. In comparison with Earth, Uranus moves slow – about 3 degrees of arc per year – making its orbit around the sun every 84 years. So each year as the Earth reaches the point in its orbit where Uranus is, the planet appears to move backward visually. The graphic below shows the concept pretty well
Astrologically during this time, it means that the energy is “reworking” or resetting itself. Describing how that energy might feel can be best undestood through looking at the Sabian Symbol associated with the degree in the Zodiac where it occurs. 19 TAURUS: a new continent rising out of the ocean
An article on Yahoo Sports describes it: “When Uranus retrograde 2022 begins on August 24—at 9:54 a.m. ET, to be exact—it will launch a period of personal reflection and internal growth. And it might even inspire you to make some major life changes.”
The aspect is just a little more complicated than this horoscope-level description. Like considering that Uranus is Conjunct the nodes (past and future) or square Venus and Saturn (Money and Heavy burdonsome shit) or that it is happening in Taurus (ruled by Venus).
Then you must consider how it affects you. How strong is Uranus in your own birth chart. If you are 21, 42 or 63 years old, you are either Square or opposing Uranus in your birth chart indicating a stronger pull.
I pay attention to retrogrades mostly for what they have to offer. I liken it to surfing and think that knowing just a little bit more about the pull will help me position myself for the next wave. For me Uranus is Sextile Neptune and Venus, and playing with my Nodes, which in my chart is also in Taurus. That points to my future, so I will be paying attention.
